- Soviet President Nikolai Podgorny sends a letter to President Yahya advising him to release Sheikh Mujib unconditionally.
- US President Richard Nixon sends letters to the premiers of India, Pakistan and the USSR, urging them to take necessary steps to avoid Indo-Pakistan war.
- Indian PM Indira Gandhi says in Rajasthan that India will not bow to any international pressure in the question of human rights restoration in East Bengal.
- Guerrillas blow the railway bridge between Arikhola and Pubail with strong explosives to halt train service between Dhaka-Narshingdi.
- Captain Moslem with his troops cordons Taherpur Pakistan army base for 12 days. Pakistan troops lost their mental strength during such imprisonment. A company of Muktibahini attack the base. Three Pakistan troops are killed in action and the rest fled away.
- The allied force attack the cornered Pakistan force in Joypurhat and liberated the district. Pakistan army lost four tanks and 450 troops. Muktibahini took possession of Gaurinagar in the evening. 12 military men are killed.
- Muktibahini gathered strength at Noakhali and attack Feni. A fierce battle is ongoing in Feni.
- Muktibahini from Dinajpur advanced towards Panchagarh to Putulia in the south.
- A coalition party meeting in Karachi chaired by Nurul Amin urged to drive ‘Jihad’ against India.
- The allied force liberated Nageshwari and Beparihat. Sipahi MF Ali Akbar and Sipahi MF Abul Hossain are martyred in the battlefield. A vast region on the northern side of Dharla River is liberated.
