Muktibahini commander in Ajmiriganj, Jagatjyoti Das with his 45-member strong group, take shelter. Their cover is blown and the Pakistan army attacks them. After a battle over two and half hours, Jagatjyoti and his comrade Upendra are martyred. Muktibahini retreats. Pakistani military men take control of Ajmiriganj.

- Indian PM Indira Gandhi during an executive committee meeting of the Congress in New Delhi says that the situation of Bangladesh will be solved within a month or two.
- Bodies of Dr Azharul Haq and Dr Kabir are found under a bridge beside Notre Dame College in Motijheel. Razakars and Pakistan army abducted them from their residence and later killed them.

- Muktibahini kill six Pakistan troops after attacking Muktagachha Police Station in Mymensingh. On the same day, another six Pakistan troops are killed at Gondagari in Rajshahi.
